Surgery for Rambo Drake

Donation protected
***10Mar2022 UPDATE*** -- As you can see, after a VERY generous donation this fundraiser for Rambos' surgery has already exceeded the set goal amount of $2000. For this, we are all extremely humbled and thankful. It has been decided that the set goal amount will not be raised any further, but the fundraiser will continue to be accessible for those of you who wish to continue your support for Rambo during his little hump in the road.  All funds will be utilized for veterinary and surgery expenses, rehabilitation costs and devices, and medications.  On behalf of Rambo, his mother, our two little girls and myself, we thank everyone who has donated from the bottom of our hearts. I will continue to update this GoFundMe page as Rambo navigates through the process.

On Monday, March 7th, 2022, our K9 friend Rambo, a 7 year old yellow lab slipped in the wet grass while frolicking in a nearby park, living his best life, and injured his right hind leg. A great morning at the park turned into the poor guy having to be carried home, not to mention having his mother worried sick.

After a visit to his veterinarian and a series of X-rays he was given the ill news that he had torn his CCL (cranial cruciate ligament) in his right rear knee. Painful, and certainly affects the full function of the entire leg. Much like if you or I had torn our ACL. Now, his vet gave him several options moving forward:

-More than likely take pain medication for the rest of his life, and let the injury heal as it is with the possibility of him never being able to use his leg correctly or put pressure on it. Which means little mobility to love and play with his two little girls, and his stuffed pig, and no chance to continue frolicking in the park on all 4 legs. Whiiiich also means a very poor quality of life for a very energetic and loving lab.

-OR-

-Have surgery on the knee to repair the torn ligament and go through the recovery/rehabilitation process in which case, yes, some pain medicine involved but also the probability of have having the leg function back. Mobility, freedom, frolicking, loving, playing and what sounds to me like a much better quality of life than the previous option.

SO, after some discussion with the family, he decided it would be best to go through with the surgery and recovery option. Just one problem....it's expensive and Rambo doesn't have a job....

Which is where I come in. I am writing this and starting a GoFundMe on behalf of Rambo and his mother, Tiffany, to ask for your collective help in getting some of the expenses for our dear friends surgery and rehabilitation covered. He is looking somewhere in the $2000-3000 range for the operation so I have decided to set the goal for this GoFundMe at $2000.

For those of you who haven't met Rambo or his mother or know the bond and the love they share for not only each other but our two little girls...it is a spectacle to behold, and I couldn't appreciate them more. We want nothing more than for Rambo to get back on all 4 of his feet and continue living his best life, for the rest of his life. We all need him at his best.

Thank you everyone, and I will be sure to post updates on his progress.

Much love,

Thane
