Help Onyx fight K9 Oral Papilloma virus.

Hello, our names are Chloe and John and we are making this gofundme page to help pay for Onyx’s medical bills. Our best friend, and the silliest goober these past 7 years has been our beautiful Red Doberman, Onyx.
A little bit about Onyx pup he loves people and loves pets and kisses. He follows you around just about anywhere and is always down for an adventure, whether it be mountain biking, hiking up a mountain, a swim in the lakes nearby, playing fetch with his frisbee, he’s always the first one out the door. Onyx absolutely loves to make everyone smile around him, and just about anyone who meets him falls in love with our goofy Onyx.
We recently noticed a growth on Onyx around the summer time and had it removed it was a small tumor on his muzzle. We had it removed and it came back with a vengeance. We noticed he had some growths on his tongue as well that popped up. Onyx has a rare case of K9 Oral Papilloma. Oral papilloma is virus like HPV but between dogs and it’s transmitted through swapping saliva or sharing toys, or water bowls etc. Most dogs don’t have papilloma growths or if they do, typically the growth will fall off/regress on its own. A lot of puppies will build an immunity against this virus.
The first growth in our Doberman’s mouth was in the summer., we didn’t think much of it and he got it removed. It immediately came back, so we took him to our vet right away and were told it would fall off, we went to several other vets and no one knew exactly why it was growing and the ones in his mouth were growing as well. They thought it could be an underlying suppressed immune system. We tried multiple commonly used medications to no avail. As well as some holistic approaches. We went to a new vet, who gave us recommendation for a Dermatology vet Specialist and we booked the first available appointment.
Onyx’s surgery date is December 5th, the soonest available. It will be a CO2 laser and cryotherapy to remove Onyx’s papillomas. So our beloved pup can go back to interacting with the world as he knows without any issues. The growth impacts how he plays, eats, sniffs, grabs toys.
We want to provide the best life we can for Onyx, he does not deserve this virus. Onyx deserves the best, and that’s why we need help with this life changing surgery for our boy Onyx. So he can go back to being a healthy happy pup.
How you can help Onyx:
1. Donations made here will go towards his upcoming surgery.
2. Share his story, I have lots of pictures and videos on his Instagram, Onyx_dobbie
3. Send good energy our way, whether it’s prayers, thoughts. Anything to help out sweet silly Onyx. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the compassion and generosity of others.
Thank you so much ❤️
