Surgery, Medical Care & Tube Feeding Supplies

Donation protected
An  unexpected and devastating medical emergency happened, and no insurance to help us pay for it.  On February 9 my wife Maria came down with what we thought was food poisoning due to the symptoms she was experiencing. We tried to just let it run its coarse, but on the evening of the 10th, she was so miserable we decided to go to the Emergency Room in Redmond. It was a good thing we did, because rather than food poisoning, we discovered that a previous hernia she had, had allowed her stomach to work up into her chest forcing her heart over into the right side of her chest, and putting pressure on her lungs making it difficult for her to breath.
Upon discovering this, the medical team told us she was on the verge of a heart attack, and said she needed to be life flighted to the hospital in Bend for emergency surgery to get her stomach pulled back down where it belonged so the rest of her organs would be allowed to go back to where they belonged.
About two hours into the surgery, the Doctor came out and told me that the blood flow had been cut off to her stomach long enough that it was dead, and it would have to be completely removed. They did that in Bend, but stated that in order to save her life, they would have to fly her to OHSU in Portland where there are specialists who handle this type of procedure.
She then got loaded on an air ambulance and flown to Portland so they could perform the procedure to reconnect what was left behind after her stomach was removed. After approximately 17 hours of surgeries, she was finally stable, but would require a great deal of care to get her back to any semblance of what might be normal.
With no stomach, she is unable to eat, so she will have to be fed via a tube in order to get enough nourishment to sustain her. We are just completely devastated and overwhelmed by all of this, and unfortunately we were unable to qualify for any type of financial assistance. Between all the emergency transportation services, and a rather lengthy hospital stay of 15 days, all the medical expenses are way more than we can handle on our own.
We are just praying that anyone who feels lead to, and has the means to, will help us repay everyone who worked so hard to save Maria's life and give her some hope of a semi normal life moving forward. She will be unable to work for 8 to 12 weeks, and without her income, it is all I will be able to do to pay all our normal household bills.
Her feeding tube supplies and medications are going to cost over $600 per month and that doesn't account for any future appointments with the Doctor to make sure she is healing properly.
This is all just so very overwhelming and difficult to process. Even if you can't afford to help out financially, we would greatly appreciate your prayers.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and may God Bless you.
