Surgery to fix rescue cat Karma's locked jaw syndrome

Hi, I am Andy, a member of BinKitty Germany, a small animal welfare initiative that rehomes former street cats from the UAE to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Often our rescuers in Duabai or Abu Dhabi find sick or injured cats, or abandoned pets on the streets. All of "our" street cats are special but there are some that need and deserve even more special care:

Karma is such a special case. She has been abandoned twice, nearly died twice, and rescued twice, the second time only by a lucky last-minute coincidence and the combined efforts of several dedicated rescuers in Dubai.

Karma suffers from locked jaw syndrome, the cause of which is unknown. This severely limits her ability to eat properly and affects her quality of life. Eating takes a long time, is messy, she can only eat very soft food or soup, and she never eats enough, making it a struggle to maintain her weight. Also, her tongue always sticks out of her mouth and she can't groom herself properly.

Karma has coped remarkably well with her hardships on and off the streets of Dubai, but it soon became clear that she would need to be cared for in a foster home by an experienced cat lover, and that we would also need to explore options for getting this condition properly treated (some treatment had been done in Dubai, but only provided temporary relief).

Fortunately, we were able to find a super-dedicated and lovely foster mom near Munich, Germany, so Karma recently made the trip from Dubai to Munich and is now being cared for until she can move into her forever home.

We have presented her case to a vet clinic in Munich and received a very encouraging response, so we want to arrange a proper diagnosis and subsequent surgery.

The initially estimated total cost including post-op care was 4000 Euros, due to very complex surgery and need for extended intensive care we had to double that estimate to 8000 Euros (see updates)

Karma is a young cat, only between 2-3 years old. She is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and otherwise healthy. We really want her to have a normal and happy cat life, and we need YOUR support to make this dream come true!
