Lydia's "Sunken Chest" Surgery

Thank you for taking time to hear my story and support my cause...Since a very young age I have suffered from Pectus Excavatum, otherwise known as "sunken chest". This deformity compresses my heart and lungs causing severe back and chest pain, bad posture, trouble breathing, and difficulty doing physical activities.

Throughout my life I have remained active and pushed myself to be active despite the many difficulties I have faced due to my sunken chest. I have reached a point where I am finally ready to take the step and live a less restricted and more comfortable life.
Surgery is the best option for me yet it only gets riskier with age. Being 21, I am pursuing this with all that I have and unfortunately have came across a few bumps in the road due to high medical costs.
*Estimated costs of the surgery alone range from $40k to $90k on average. Insurance is expected to cover very little, leaving out of pocket costs very high. In addition there are many consultations made before surgery is even performed that cost hundreds of dollars. Unpaid leave from work, travel expenses, medications, and hospital stays all add up to thousands of dollars for a life-changing operation.

I am a 21 year old Michigan native recently relocated to the Florida Keys. Mid-Michigan is where I was born and raised thanks to my amazing parents Chad and Hilary. When I was 16 my family and I relocated to south Florida for better opportunities. After graduating high school I enrolled in a local college part-time to pursue a career in hospitality. Now living with my long-term boyfriend and supporting myself fully, I am working full time at a beautiful resort and working my way up. At the same time I also operate a small jewelry business from my home through Etsy called Keys Klay Beads. I have a passion for everything I do in life and working towards bettering my life. My current goal/battle is to correct my sunken chest so I can no longer be limited by the defect I was unfortunately born with.
