Surprisingly Complicated Web Series

Surprisingly Complicated is the story of our family raising twin boys on the autism spectrum. When our boys were diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder thirteen years ago, there wasn't much out there on what to expect. We had found a few documentaries, books, blogger parents, and a lot of information on cures and treatments.
With all the info on the internet, we never found a place to tell us that life would go on, just a little bit different than planned.
This web series is five years in the making and shows our everyday challenges and quirks that come with raising twin autistic boys. The series follows the Currans through typical family days and outings with some not so typical results.
We decided to make this series because there is nothing quite like this on television or the web. The children that will be playing the roles of our twins in the series will be on the spectrum to stay true to our story. We will not be using child actors.
We can only hope that those newly affected by the autism diagnosis can look at these 15 minute segments and be prepared for what might come. The diagnosis is indeed a wide spectrum of characteristics. Our stories are not what every parent will endure. We hope the series gives parents an understanding that the autism journey is difficult, but they're not alone.
Why are we on gofundme? Our pilot was self funded, and we need your help. For the pilot, funds were used for rehearsal space, shooting the first episode, actors, crew, catering, transportation, props, and post production. We were lucky with location as we shot in and around our home. Funding will be needed for locations in future episodes. Ikea, if you're reading this, we really need to use your ball pit for an episode!
The completed, written series consists of 12 episodes including the pilot, all running about 15 minutes in length. If we make over the amount we are asking for, those funds will simply go toward more episodes.
Our completed pilot episode deals with the family deciding to give the twins marijuana to offset the side effects traditional medicine gave them. Its not a cure, just our story.
Further episodes will show what our family encountered at the dentist, haircuts, family outings, potty training, holidays, but with the humor and love that has held our family together.
