January 8th, 2021   Medical Update.

Dear Patrons and Supporters, 

Thank you again for all of your generous donations back in August.  I was able to hire a home care worker for 6 weeks for my foot surgery.  

Next week I undergo a much more serious and scary surgery to remove the large alien tumor behind my right eye. The tumor has encroached the muscle holding eye in place and has metastasized through my  temple bone.

Unfortunately they must remove my eye permanently to get at the tumor and the temple . The surgery  is a 20 hour operation, five surgeons, ...I have been wrapping my head around losing my eye,  as you might imagine it has been roller coster ride of emotions.

I am trying to stay calm and be positive.

CELEBRATING Surviving 36 OF LIVING WITH HIV AND AIDS 

Still Surviving. Now it's time for my Annual Medical/Covid/Arts Fundraiser 

If you are getting this email you have been generous supporters me and my projects and helped me not only create my art, support my campaigns from Arts in the Woods, To my kids, Memorials, Art Production, and now helping me get through my ongoing medical  conditions .  Last year I completed  four months of skin cancer and radiation treatments.

This year I have had to manage Covid. Last March I survived a weeks bout with Covid...Like everyone it's been a struggle to maintain sanity and safety, depression and isolation.  Trying to keep the faith as we reopen slowly and reconnect. 

I have two new conditions, an untreatable blood clot on my Temple and a first or second stage aneurysm.  On this Monday I go in for a special MRI my aneurysm.  

Thursday September 17th  I undergo another major foot surgery.   I will be laid up alone at home unable to walk for 3 to 5 weeks.

This will be my 3rd foot surgery in 5 years. I will need home care from my now Insurance VNS NY State Medicaid. However I will only qualify for 4 hours a day 5 days in the morning, from 9am to 12pm, or I can go to an assisted living home, which in COVID is not an option for me.

What I need help from you with. 

I need to hire a two assistants who can come to my home and help me between for 4 hours a day 4pm and 8pm.  Help cook dinner, Grocery Shopping and other menial tasks and errands for at least 4 weeks.  I pay my assistants $125.00  per 4 hour shift.  6 days a week $750.00 a week.  Total 4 weeks . 

For the last surgery 3 years ago I had many friends coming to help fill that home care void.  Covid will prevent that from happening this time; (no volunteers! I am too demanding/in pain LOL)   

I know these are hard times for everyone.  Give what you can.
