Help my family out of Gaza to build a new life!

Donation protected
I am Hassan, I’m from the Gaza Strip. The dire political situation here, evident in news reports, compels me to reach out for your compassion through this campaign. It's sadly "game over" for a normal life in Gaza. And we can't even begin to sort that possibility out till the war is over. But when and how? No one knows. And as such, we're playing a betting game of how long the family will be okay. This is what brings us here today, we're trying to get our loved ones out and settled in the Netherlands. And we want to do it right. Unfortunately, it's too much money.

I have 1 goal I need your help with.

  • Rescue My Family!

My family who reside in Gaza are 4 people, my dad, my grandma, and my two sisters.

My youngest sister Farah is 11 years old. I can't begin to tell you the effects that war and the constant bombings have had on her. In our street, they bombed our neighbors, and I can only tell you it has been a massacre. My sister was on the balcony and witnessed the whole thing. The worst of all is even if the war ends, she has no school to attend. All the schools have been bombed and the ones left are being used as refugees for hundreds of people. It's being discussed in our community that at best, kids will lose two years of their education.

My grandma is old, she is 88 years old and has been constantly crying and in fear of the worst. Her one prayer is "I hope god protects us and this home". She does not deserve to go through this amount of stress and fear of life at a late age.

My other sister Faiza 24 years old, has just finished her med school with distinction and even when the war is over she will also have no hopes of being employed as a doctor and leading a normal life. Most hospitals have been bombed and most of the doctors will be getting no little pay for years to come.

My dad, 62 years old, had retired in the last two years. He thought from now on it's smooth saliling. Most kids have graduated, and life is good. It was. Now he is also faced with the hard truth that he and the family might have to abandon everything and start over somewhere new.

In short, my family's capacity to lead a normal life has been thrown out of the window. And who are we kidding? there is no future in Gaza. 95% of Gaza has been destroyed. We're talking about hospitals, universities, roads. I dare to say it has turned into ruins with no clear future.

We just dream of leading a normal life together, not worried that our loved ones could die at any moment. Help us make that dream a reality.

Here is a summary of the costs we face when trying to get out:

$20,000 just to get out to Egypt! Without these funds, even if the border opens, their escape remains extremely challenging. We also need a travel fund to sustain their short-to-long-term stay in Egypt, which will depend on how quickly we can organize their visas to the Netherlands. But the main challenge is the $20,000.

Crossing the Rafah border requires a fee of 5000 dollars currently per person. The process is being taken care of by a single tourism office in Gaza called “Halla”.

After getting out of Gaza, the family will need to stay in Egypt until we finish their visa process to get them to the Netherlands (my mom and brother live there). This will probably last between 3 to 6 months. At this time we need to cover rent, food, and visa applications.

I estimate the monthly cost of a family of 4 for 1 month in Egypt to be: between 1500 to 2000 dollars. So for 3 months (no visa process takes shorter than this) it will be from 4500 dollars to 6000 dollars. If the visa process lasts 6 months then from 9000 to 12000 dollars.

Furthermore, the visa costs for 4 will round up to 320 euros at 80 euros a person

And the airplane costs 4 on average: 1200 euros at 300 (cheapest price) euros per person.

Everything adds up to:
20000 thousand dollars to cross to Egypt
Accommodation
4500 thousand dollars (3 months at 1500 living costs including rent) to possibly 9000 thousand dollars (if the duration is at 6 months at also 1500 monthly living costs)
Visa at 320 euro for 4 people
Flights at 1200 euros for 4 people assuming the cheapest ticket of 300 euros per person.
