Surviving an Ice Storm with the Connealy-Br Family

On January 13th, 2024, Crystal Connealy and her family endured a terrifying, life-changing experience when a massive tree crashed into the middle of their home. The family, including their 10 year old and 15 year old, narrowly avoided injuries and crawled out of a bedroom window to escape the destruction. Due to the current ice storm that is shutting down entire communities in Oregon, the family is unable to recover any of their items and they are left with nothing more than the clothing on their backs. Their home and lives are in ruin right now.

We are still hopeful. This family is resilient and they are working to get through this unexpected hardship together. They know that kindness and community are the only way that we get through hard times when things are completely out of our control. Local neighbors have already begun the process by giving the family a safe place to stay in the immediate hours beyond the event. Since then, the Connealy family found a local motel to begin meeting basic needs. They will be able to explore all of their options with their home insurance and community resources but this journey will be expensive and slow.

The donation amount is set to help Crystal's family begin to reconstruct their lives together. Their home is destroyed and their personal belongings are beyond their ability to recover. They are waiting out the ice storm that has been going on for days now and are attempting to provide basic needs items like winter clothing, sleepwear and regular clothing, home items, etc. Anything we touch today in our homes is something they don't have right now and we are humbly asking for you to join our small community of folks that look out for others.
