Susan Binder has ALS and she needs our help

My name Susan Minarcin, I have known Susan Binder since college when we met at U.C. Berkeley and became instant friends. Today, Susan is battling for her life with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), sometimes called Lou Ghering's disease. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease; it has had a profound impact on Susan's life and the lives of those who love her. I am reaching out to you on their behalf.

Susan found her life's passion in those college years, and she dedicated her life to teaching high school, she always said that she loved teenagers, and in fact she understood them in a way that few do. Susan's has a deep dedication to her community which has always been an inspiration to those around her. Despite the challenges she now faces with her health, Susan continues to inspire those around her with unwavering strength and resilience. Although the progression of ALS has led to the loss of almost all of her mobility, Susan's spirit remains unbroken.

Susan now requires additional care and support that her beautiful mother, Pat (now 85), is struggling to provide on her own. The financial burden of Susan's medical expenses and the necessary care has become overwhelming for Pat, and she and Susan are in urgent need of assistance. The costs associated with Susan's ongoing medical care, physical therapy and day-to-day living have placed an immense strain on already limited resources, and the family is confronted with a stark reality that they cannot face this challenge alone.

Susan's mother, Pat, despite her age, has taken on the role of caregiver with unwavering dedication and love for her daughter. However, it is evident that the physical and financial toll of providing the round-the-clock care that Susan needs is taking a toll on her own well-being. It is heartbreaking to witness the strain this has placed on them, and I am reaching out in the hope that we can come together to offer some relief during this incredibly difficult time.

Your support will make a significant difference in Susan's life and give her mother the chance to provide her with the care and resources she needs in her battle against ALS. Any contributions, whether big or small, will go directly towards covering medical expenses, home modifications to accommodate Susan's changing mobility needs, and obtaining the services of professional caregivers to assist her mother.

Susan's love of teaching and her impact on the lives of her students is a testament to her selflessness and her deep dedication to her community. She has touched the lives of so many, and now she needs your help. By coming together, we can provide Susan and Pat with the support and assistance they desperately need during this challenging time.

I humbly ask for your kindness and generosity as we rally around Susan and Pat. Your donation, and any assistance you can offer in spreading the word, will be deeply appreciated and will make a meaningful impact on their lives. Together, we can ease the burden on Pat and ensure that Susan receives the care and support she deserves.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message and thank you in advance for any support you are able to provide. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this message with your network to help us reach more people who may be able to assist in any capacity.
