On June 3rd, during a social bike event, Susan Blum had a serious bike accident.
According to her doctors, Susan is going to be in the hospital for approximately 6 months. This will be to recover from her injuries and to rehabilitate. They also suggest that it could be 2 years before she has almost fully recovered from her injuries.
During the time in the hospital Susan won't be able to work, and following that may not be able to go back to work full time until she has fully recovered.
Susan is an avid cyclist and has, up until the end of last year, been training with Paralympic athlete Shawna Ryan.
Susan is currently Associate Vice-President of Applied Research and Innovation at Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
Susan is actively involved in both the cycling community and the community as a whole.
Susan has 2 daughters and a husband who are hoping for a speedy recovery.
