Susan Chastain Disaster Relief Fund

Hi. My name is Paul Keller - jazz bassist and bandleader.

I've set up this GoFundMe page to raise emergency disaster relief money for our dear friend, musician, mother, grandmother, and former owner of Ann Arbor's beloved Firefly Club, Susan Chastain. Susan lost everything this week when Hurricane Ian passed right over her house in Cape Coral, Florida.

Just before the storm hit, Susan evacuated to safety and she is alive today, thank God! But back in Cape Coral, when Hurricane Ian came ashore, her two condos were swamped by the 8-foot storm surge. Seawater rushed into Susan's condo and destroyed everything in its path; now, all her possessions are wet garbage. Her furniture, records, stereo, and memorabilia have to be trashed. Sadly, it's all being dragged out to the curb.

Susan's car was also caught in the flood and sustained extensive damage.

Now Susan faces the clean-up, sterilization, rebuilding of her living space and the replacement of her essential items. Many items can never be replaced. She takes on the daunting task of rebuilding her life with no electricity or running water at this time!

Susan's blessing is that her son Lucas and his family live near her; they are all together tonight, safe at Lucas's home.
