Susan Collins Hardship Fund

Hello, My name is Rhea I am helping my long time friend, Susan Collins who has recently fallen on hard times. Susan was diagnosed with Stage 3 Renal failure this year and left her job with Amazon last month to work part time and receive medical treatment; Amazon did not allow her the time off. Treatment was helping and Susan was feeling encouraged, hopeful and motivated to get back to work. She applied for several jobs and was hired with Walgreens and going to start on November 30th. Things seemed to be looking up for her.

On November 29th Susan fractured her ankle and tibia chasing her dog, rendering her unable to start work. At that time she had no medical or disability insurance. She has used her savings, received some help from her friends and family, and has had to move within the last 2 weeks.

Susan has applied for short-term disability and health insurance, and is seeking employment remotely as she has been instructed to stay off her leg. She will need surgery and rehabilitation from her leg injury is expected to take up to a year after she has surgery. She currently receives a grant for medical care for an existing frontal lobe meningioma and her case manager is assisting her with applying for grants for leg surgery and kidney treatments as well.
