Susan's Home Lost To Fire

On December 28, 2019 our sister, Susan Tofflemire, was charging the engine battery of the RV camper in which she lives. Something in the engine caught fire and by the time the fire department arrived the camper was a total loss. This camper has been Susan’s home on an avocado farm in Santa Paula, California for the last several years. Susan has lost everything in the fire; her home and all her clothing and worldly possessions.

Subsisting on an extremely limited income, Susan can only afford liability insurance. With no comprehensive coverage, her insurance does not cover her losses from the fire. Susan is a disabled, insulin-dependent diabetic and suffers other related debilitating medical issues. Her disability income is all she has and not enough to rent an apartment or home. It is barely enough to afford the nominal rent to live in a camper on the farm.

The camper provided Susan a safe, affordable place to live and allowed her to maintain a level of independence and dignity. The fire has left Susan in desperate need of a safe place to live and funds to buy used clothing and household goods.

Susan is well loved with friends and family who, like so many, have limited means. We hope you will join us in contributing what you are able to this Go Fund Me campaign to help Susan get her back on her feet with a used replacement camper and some used clothes.
