Susan Longo(Sue) Medical Expenses & Funeral Costs

On September 15, our dear friend Sue (Susan Longo) suffered a massive stroke.
Whenever sue drives home from work, it has been her routine to call either her husband Zack, her 3 daughters or talk to her grandson Luke. Friday, the morning of September 15, after she got off from her graveyard shift, she called her eldest daughter, Ryanne. It was a normal conversation, the kind of call she makes just to get that sleep away while she drives home safely. Ryanne kept her company while keeping her awake. They talked about planning a vacation for the holidays. They talked about the grand kids (Ryanne’s children). They talked about life, and as Sue was close to home which was close to 9am, Ryanne noticed her mom slurring a little. Knowing her mom when she’s sleepy, Ryanne felt like it was just one of the many conversations they had where her mom was too sleepy to talk that she sometimes slurs her words. So, she told her mom to get some rest and told her she will call her again in the afternoon. Sue responded, “Yes I’m tired and sleepy, I’ll talk to you later, kisses to the grandkids”, and hung up.
Around 12:30 Lunch time Zack (Sue’s husband) came home for his lunch break and was very devastated to find his wife unresponsive on the couch. He immediately called 911. Sue was rushed to the nearest trauma center where she was diagnosed to have a massive stroke.
The following information was taken from her computed tomography angiography (CTA) result which showed “sub-acute large Right MCA infarct with Right Basal Ganglial hemorrhage. There is 8mm of Left to Right midline shift.” It also showed “Right Carotid Terminus Occlusion and Acute thrombus within brachiocephalic artery.”
That same day the doctors and medical team tried their very best to remove the clot, but unfortunately the procedure was not successful. It was too late for them to remove it as the clot had already hardened. As the family awaits for the next intervention, Sue was placed in the surgical intensive care unit for close monitoring – sedated and on a vent.
In the early hours today, September 17 Sue’s vital signs went critical. The medical team immediately ordered a brain CT scan and there they found that the midline shift was greatly increased and that they had to do an emergency surgery. A craniectomy was performed (it is a type of surgery to remove a portion of the skull. This helps relieve extra pressure on the brain.)
Right now, Sue is fighting for her life. Her left side is completely paralyzed and she is still on a ventilator. She has so many plans for her kids, her husband and her grandkids. She is a doting mom, a wonderful wife, a loving and caring grandma, an amazing sister and daughter, and an incredible friend and coworker. Sadly, this medical tragedy will affect her ability to work, drive, and perform everyday tasks.
I have started this GoFundMe Campaign with the approval of her husband Zack and 3 kids. We are asking for assistance and support through your donations to cover medical and other living expenses that Sue will incur. This will help her focus her energy on getting better and lighten the load that unforeseen medical emergencies can bring. We anticipated that her long-term medical expenses would surpass our initial financial goal. But we are hopeful that this campaign will alleviate some of her financial burden so she can recover with minimal stress.
We know for certain how much love there is for Sue. This is a massive life event that has affected her husband and her kids and turned their lives upside down. We want to make sure that all of them are well supported, financially and emotionally. So we are knocking at your hearts for any amount you can donate to help the family. We encourage everyone to storm the heavens with prayers for our dear Sue. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
