Susan Miller open heart surgery

Hi, my name is Regan. I'm doing this fundraiser for my mother Susan Miller. She has a bad mitrovalve in her heart that needs to be replaced. She has been in a rough shape for quite some time, building fluid in her legs, having trouble breathing, etc. My family and I finally encouraged her to seek medical attention so she went to the heart doctor. The heart doctor explained he thought it was this mitrovalve and sent her to Frye hospital here in Hickory. She spent three weeks at Frye while they tried to get her fluid off, but the medication messed with her kidney function so she was unable to recieve the amount needed to remove the fluid, meanwhile she had been building more and more fluid all along. At the end of her visit at Frye they were finally able to go in with a heart catheter and see in fact her mitrovalve was severely constricted and causing her heart to be very congested on one side and causing all of her other problems. So, they transferred her ro Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, the #1 heart hospital in the state. While only being at Duke for three days as of this posting, she has been scheduled for open heart surgery June 19th and moved to the ICU. They are telling her it will be another two weeks minimum in the hospital for recovery followed by another five to six weeks recovery at home, if all goes well.

That leads me into why we asking for money...

Why are we asking? Well we are asking for her and her financial wellbeing. My mom is a single woman and has had it tough for the past few years. She hit a bit of a rough spot and accumulated some debt got behind on some bills and such, but in the past 6-12 months she has finally gotten everything back on track, then this. She has a job at Food Lion where she truly enjoys to be, but do to all that has been going on she has been out of work for about a month, and it looks like possibly will be for about two more. Unfortunately in times like these bills do not stop coming and even more unfortunately times like these create new bills in the way of insurance co-pays and deductibles and such. Luckily she has insurance and luckily her deductibles are not extreme. The bills along with her insurance things are just going to keep building and building, and I just would like to not see my mother fall back into a rough patch just to get the treatment that is going to save her life.
