Susan R. Doherty Memorial Fund

The Susan R. Doherty Memorial Fund is devoted to the well-being and prosperity of Laytonsville Elementary students. Susan R. Doherty worked at Laytonsville Elementary for 19 years as a school secretary, substitute teacher and recess aide. She knew every student by name and cared deeply for their well-being. For example, any student Susan observed walking into school without a warm coat, she would forgo her lunch break to grab a coat from the family’s closet to give to the student. 

We hope to carry on Susan’s legacy by supporting the needs of every Laytonsville student. Examples of support will include lunch debt relief, e-learning assistance, school grounds improvements, and other financial support on an as needed basis.
