Susan Tappero dedicated her career to building a program, facility and community for underserved and first-generation students to learn to succeed in a challenging yet rewarding major in mathematics, engineering and the sciences as the MESA and STEM Center Director at Cabrillo College. 

To honor Susan's 25+ years with MESA, a scholarship has been established in her name to continue to support STEM students at Cabrillo College. The "Susan Tappero Passion & Perseverance Scholarship"  will support STEM students who are first-generation,  tutors, single parents, women in mathematics, those needing one-time emergency funds, and/or students who have the distinction of "Most Inspiring Student" in the MESA Center. 

The scholarship requires $7,500 in donations; and the total donation will be matched by the US Department of Education to create a $15,000 endowed scholarship fund.  An endowed scholarship means the account principal is never touched and the interest provides the yearly scholarship for eternity. 

A one time donation now will forever make a meaningful impact for deserving students every year!
