Susan Weitz Fighting 25 Years With Breast Cancer

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Amanda Weitz and my mother Susan Weitz had been battling stage 4 breast cancer for the past 25 years.

Susan, or better known as Suzi by all her friends and family, was diagnosed with Breast cancer in 1999 just shy of giving birth to her third child. She was told at the beginning of her pregnancy journey that the cancer markers were so small that starting chemotherapy right away was not necessary. After the birth of Garrett, the youngest child, she went back for a normal appointment and the cancer had moved to stage 4. Quickly thereafter she had a mastectomy with lymph node removal and chemotherapy. She was able to beat the odds and come out on the other side, but would be battling for the rest of her life.

Suzi was able to keep the cancer at bay while continuously being on a plethera of hormone blockers and medications. In 2014 the cancer had spread to her left lung. Luckily, during this time the cancer was operable and she was able to have a partial lobectomy with smaller doses of chemotherapy. This allowed the cancer to return back to its baseline with hormone blockers keeping everything at bay.

Despite all of those amazing efforts and fights, in July of 2023 her cancer markers spiked exponentially again. They changed her hormone blockers and medications, then in September of 2023 she was admitted to the hospital after copious amounts of pain. They proceeded to conduct scans, tests, and lab work to understand what exactly was going on. That hospital stay is when all of our lives flipped upside down. She was told the cancer had metastasized and spread throughout her body including her bones and brain. Our family rallied alongside my mom who was not going to let that news stop her from fighting as hard as she could. We reached out to doctors all along California for trials, new treatments, anything that would maintain and give her a couple more years. At the end of the day after Suzi, and all family and friends best efforts of fighting she passed away on March 10th peacefully in her sleep.

The goal was to get this done and posted before that day came, but when cancer is motivated enough it does not stop for anything or anyone. My family and I are now trying to navigate this world without the backbone of our family. We would appreciate any help with raising money in memory of Suzi Weitz, her beautiful celebration of life, years of medical bills, and debt.

Thank you to everyone who has made it this far and would be willing to support our family during this really difficult time.
