Susan Bobo - Stroke Recovery, Rehab

Donation protected
Susan Bobo, born and raised in Trinidad, a graduate of Oxford University School of Nursing, an Island girl turned Southern girl living in South Carolina most of her adult life, a proud mother of 4, and a widow for 8 years to the love of her life, renown artist and US Air Force Sergeant, Vincent Jerome Bobo - suffered a stroke on September 5, 2016.

Susan, ‘Mama Bobo’, has had to endure and overcome a lot of medical challenges within her 56 years, including Type II Diabetes, surviving a coma, kidney and heart complications, and dialysis. She has found a way to fight and live through each. The stroke, or as the doctors described, the ‘hurricane’, left her bedridden for 6-7 months, with limited eyesight in her left eye and minimal mobility to her left arm and leg. Between gastrointestinal complications, additional mini-strokes, and a seizure that had doctors preparing the family for the worst and recommending a ‘non resuscitation order’ - Susan chose to fight. With her family’s support and love, she came back, and has been progressing since.

For the past 3 months, Mama Bobo has been in a nursing home in Summerville, SC gradually progressing with rehab. She has regained a lot more mobility in her left arm and leg and she’s motivated to walk again. She continues to face challenges, including the doubts of her trainers, which has lead to her being put under home healthcare as of 3/10/17. Although temporary, this has lead to even more financial strain for the family.

Money is tight - her children, Vincent (30, my boyfriend), Clark (27), Ryan (25), Octavia (23), are doing the best they can. However they could really use your help. Every dollar counts. Your support will help with supplies needed for home healthcare, Mama’s medication, meals, and a private nurse which will allow (especially Vincent) the children to work for better income. The ultimate goal is to get Mama in an intense rehab facility, which will hopefully pave the way for her to walk again and to self-independence. With your help, she can get there.

This family has been through so much. Any prayer, kind offer, and sharing of their story will help lift them.

Vincent is the love of my life. He has become a full-time caretaker at the age of 30. He has dedicated everything to getting his mom better. He’s the most selfless and determined person I know. He is also the last to ask for help, which is why I am asking.

Here’s to helping Mama and her family, and believing in the power of good. The power of prayer. The power of spirit. Every dollar counts, thank you for your support #luckyEveryday #mamaBoboStrong
