Sugar Art Family & Friends,

As some of you may know my bestie Susan Carberry has had a rough go the last week plus and is in the hospital. She’s already been through one surgery and is battling a very serious infection, with the likely hood of another surgery to follow. Many of us in this industry are sole proprietors. The plus side is that you are your own boss. The downside, you don’t work, you don’t get paid. Sole proprietors don’t have the luxury of sick time, vacation time and high medical deductibles, co-pays and extraordinary out of pocket expenses such as co-insurance, can be devastating when faced with an emergency such as this.

The support from Susan’s friends, family and the local cake/sugar community has been AMAZING. People have stepped in to help her run the shop, teach classes, bake and fill orders. She is beyond grateful for all the love and support she has received. My sweet friend faces an extended hospital stay, a long recovery time with the potential for yet another surgery and the cost will be high. We have setup this page to help Susan with her medical expenses. 

Susan is an amazing friend that gives so much to others and her community! It is our hope that we can provide her with a little financial peace of mind so that she can focus on her recovery, getting healthy, strong and back to her shop! We appreciate your love and support and will keep you updated on how she is doing. Rest assured, she is one tough, sassy cookie! :)
