Susanna’s Saga

Susanna is a spunky, fun loving mother of two preschoolers. She went to urgent care on 1/15/19 for side pain and becoming out of breath walking through her house. After blood and urine test showed something odd with her kidney numbers, she was sent to the Emergency Department at Matsu Regional. Through CT Scan they discovered a mass on her left kidney with an extension (previously thought to be a clot) going all the way up her Inferior Vena Cava, nearing her heart. She was transferred to Providence Hospital in Anchorage, received a kidney biopsy, and was awaiting transfer to Seattle when it became apparent her condition was worsening.  
After a life threatening surgery to remove the tumorous left kidney and the extension from close to her heart, the tumor was identified as a Wilms Tumor. These tumors are rarely seen in children over age 8, and never with the complications surrounding her heart. 
Treatment is modified from that which is used in pediatric patients and Susanna is now on a long journey of chemo and has just completed her radiation treatment. Only a month has passed and their lives have turned upside down. Prayers and any financial help will be appreciated in the coming 30 weeks of chemo therapy.
