Help Susie focus on kicking cancer’s butt!

My name is Aniam and I created this GoFundMe to help a beautiful, kindhearted friend who is fighting with all her heart to beat cancer. We can’t take her cancer away and there aren’t words that can take the fear and uncertainty from her family’s heart, but if we can help them not worry about the medical bills, that’s one thing we can do, one less worry for them. I don’t know how big the costs will get for this but I am setting a $30,000 goal. Please donate if you can and please share her story!
Her story as told by Susie, herself:
I started feeling ill around November 2022. On Christmas Day, I finally went into urgent care to express my concerns.
In January 2023, I had a CT scan and saw my doctor. My gut told me it was my liver cyst causing the pain, but he dismissed me when I brought that up. He said the scan looked non-cancerous and that he was not worried about that.
By April 2023, my body had new symptoms that landed me in the hospital. After a 12 day hospital stay, they discovered my cyst was growing and causing biliary obstruction. In May I had surgery to remove part of the cyst. It was then that I was told by one doctor it was a hepatic cyst-adenoma, which is very rare, just 1% of the population to be exact. I asked the surgeon why he wasn’t removing the entire cyst and was again dismissed with the explanation that I am young and the chances of it being cancerous were low.
Pathology results came back as cancer, specifically a rare form of squamous cell cancer originating in the liver. After a full metastatic work up, it was confirmed but by then an entire month had passed and by June 2023, it was non-operable because it grew and I was told it was aggressive. Chemotherapy and radiation were my only option.
Meanwhile, I was referred to City of Hope for a second opinion due to the nature of the cancer being so rare. I was told by my oncology team that there are only 35 known cases worldwide of this type of cancer in the last 50 years, so it’s all textbook to them. I am praying City of Hope has a different opinion and feels they can operate
