Suspended Coffee & Tea: White Buttons
Donation protected
Help us have enough buttons to get through the rest of Winter! After having run fresh out of buttons at the beginning of October, we had been funding the gap in our suspended coffee program in house. This was not sustainable for our little business. Not only had we seen a steady increase in users of the program over the last few months, but also a decline in supporters. We started this page to help us have enough buttons to get to the holiday break. We had some larger offline donations and regular supporters who carried us through the end of the year. And though we filled in the gaps where we could, yet we did not meet our 2019 goal and we are still in need.
Here are the details:
-A button can be purchased for $3 and placed into a jar near our till to represent a coffee or tea that has been pre-paid for and is then held in suspension.
- When buttons are redeemed, we also add in a piece of baking or toasts to go along with the beverage.
- We open our space and encourage folks using the buttons to stay and enjoy our cafe while they eat their treats and sip on their cuppas. We believe this is an easy way to create community and blur societal norms. It also allows us to check in with vulnerable folks in our community and potentially connect them with resources.
- We have been giving out 30-35 buttons a day on average. We have not always been able to keep up with the demand. This means some folks may not able to receive food or drink.
It takes just over $2,100 a month to keep this program going. We have increased our goal and would like to secure enough funds to have buttons available through the winter season. Can you help us? Every little bit adds up and it means so much to those who access our program.
They and we thank you.
