Please help a wonderful family in need

Hi, my name is Karisa and I'm fundraising for the Archila family. I have known Evani (Vilda) Archila for 17 years. She arrived in the United States at 24 years old. She spoke no English and had left her country of Guatemala and two children, Darvin and Fernanda, in search of employment, and income to send home to her parents to shelter, feed and take care of them all. In her country, there was little to no employment, and they lived in a corrugated shack with little food to distribute amongst the family. Vilda was fearful for how that life would turn out for her family, especially her children, so she journeyed alone to California. When I met her, she was shy but sweet and I had a very good sense that she was a good person. Over the years, she has cared for our children and loved them as her own. She has helped us through going back to work and especially when I was going through cancer treatment. She is one of the hardest workers that I know. She was away from her children for 6 years, which would be devastating for any mother. She decided to go back to Guatemala alone to get them and bring them to California. On her way back to the United States, she was detained in Texas for three weeks. Through many legal hoops, she and her children have become citizens of the United States. She has provided a wonderful life for her children and has proved to be a very strong, resilient person and mother. Her faith has carried her through many challenges. Now, she is facing one of the most challenging times a mother can face - the illness of one of her children. Her daughter, Fernanda (18), developed a tumor in her shoulder, six years ago. It was removed but never tested. Recently, when three more tumors grew in the same area, they again went to a doctor but this time the tumors were biopsied. Fernanda has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Sarcoma, an uncommon cancer of the bones and soft tissues. She has undergone surgery but a post-op test revealed that there are still cancer cells present. A young girl in her senior year of high school at San Rafael High now has to receive six months of chemotherapy and six weeks of radiation. Due to the stress that chemotherapy puts on a person's immune system, she will continue her studies from home to prevent getting sick which would further exacerbate her illness. Vilda, who works anywhere from 6-7 days per week has had to cut her schedule back to accompany her daughter to San Francisco for treatment at UCSF Oncology Department. She also faces the costs of travel to and from the city, and parking. These factors are creating much stress for her and her family. Please consider helping this family so that they can focus on getting their young daughter healthy and able to continue her beautiful life. All funds will be used to cover lost income, travel/parking costs and any medical bills not covered by insurance. Thank you and god bless!
