Suzanne Foley

As many of you know the matriarch of our family, Suzanne Foley, was recently diagnosed with stage four uterine cancer. Her sudden illness has been a shock to our family, and unfortunately, the cancer had metastasized before we were able to receive a proper diagnosis and treatment options. Our mother has always had a vivacious spirit and zest for life. she has always centered herself around helping others. Whether it be volunteering for her beloved Hero Dogs, working alongside children and adults with special needs, or lending a helping hand to people (AND DOGS) in need. Right now, we are aiming that helpful and generous spirit directly at Suzanne, we are determined to beat this thing and get her back to her home in her beloved Ocean City!

Over the last several weeks my sister (Wendy) and I have worked hard to set a treatment plan into motion. She has begun chemo treatments through Mercy Hospital, who's staff have gone above and beyond in making us all feel comfortable and at ease, and she is currently staying with my father at his home in Rockville, where we are able to keep a close eye on her. That being said, this diagnosis has put a gigantic strain on our entire family. In addition to the stress of the ongoing pandemic, rising gas prices, and ever increasing inflation, my sister unexpectedly lost her job of 20 years and we have found ourselves stretched very thin between never ending medical bills, long commutes to the hospital, and traveling to take care of my mother.

It's not often that Suzanne Foley (or any member of the Foley family really!) asks for help, but today we are putting aside our pride and asking. Please feel free to help in any way you are able. Whether it be a donation, a helping hand, or even just a kind message to let our mother know she's in your thoughts. We are simultaneously desperate and grateful for any kind of extra help that comes our way. If there's one thing Suzanne has always leaned on, it's community, and we are asking our community to come together to get her well again!
