Our dear friend, family member and neighbor, Suzanne Grover, recently received the shocking and implausible diagnosis of stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer.
While both lungs are symptomatic, one is nearly full. Suzanne is a not a smoker and never has been. She does not have the genetic mutation that would explain why she has developed this type of cancer. These silent and insidious abnormal cells have metastasized in her heart, liver, kidney, back bones, and lymph nodes. The cause remains a mystery. This diagnosis has broken our hearts and taken us all by great surprise, but Suzanne believes in miracles and so must we. She could use a miracle right now.
The last year has been one of change and challenge for Suzanne. She was abruptly separated from her employment with the City of Washougal after 25 years of loyal and dedicated service. She experienced complications in coverage when she lost her medical insurance through her employer and is now stuck uninsured and between two different health care providers.
Suzanne will need months of testing, radiation, and chemotherapy.
