WASHS Cheerleaders to Macy's Parade

Waynesboro Area Senior High School's Competition Cheer Squad has achieved many accomplishments over the years.  Most recently their 1st Place Win at the Mardi Gras National Spirit Competition held on March 7th at the Hershey Arena (which is the performance linked to this story) has earned the sophomores and juniors who competed on the mat that day an invitation to participate in the 89th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC on November 26th, which is aired live on NBC.  

Nine talented, spirited, hardworking, dedicated cheerleaders are trying to raise funds to be able to attend this once in a life time opportunity.  The package for each girl to attend includes six (6) nights accommodations at the New York Hilton Midtown Hotel, most of their meals, tickets to see a Broadway show & the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular featuring the Rockettes, tours for the Statue of Liberty Harbor Cruise & Empire State Building,  Commemorative Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade team jacket, travel bag, sweatshirt, pin & performance uniform and a metro pass to get them to all of their exciting activities throughout their stay!!  In addition to the package, they also need to raise funds for a few incidentals that are not included and round trip transporation to New York City.

These girls not only dedicate their time to competing, but also perform as sideline cheerleaders at football, soccer and basketball games.  They put in countless hours of community service by coaching youth cheerleaders, helping out at annual town events and supporting other local organizations during their fundraising campaigns to raise funds for a new track and turf field for the high school.  These girls are always giving back to their hometown with smiles and energy that cannot be denied.
