SW Fla, Hurricane Ian Survivors Need Your Help
Donation protected
My name is Jennifer Wardle, and I reside near San Antonio, Texas. In September, my family was in the crosshairs of Hurricane Ian. My beloved Aunt Sally and Uncle Clifford had their retirement home destroyed in SW Florida. This fundraiser is to help offset the cost of their insurance deductible, so that they can rebuild their retirement home.
Buffalo natives, Clifford and Sally Vosburgh, finally retired after working in SW Florida for over 40 years. Cliff, a Vietnam-era Army veteran, worked at the local water department, and Sally, an elementary school secretary, worked hard all their lives to have a comfortable but humble retirement lifestyle. Their home, a log cabin, was handcrafted by Clifford himself, alongside his father and weathered many hurricanes in its time. Ian was different than other storms, though. The log cabin kept Cliff and Sal safe; they sheltered and rode out the storm in the laundry room with mattresses and rosaries. For hours they were within the eye wall and could feel mother nature rip apart their home till the roof was finally ripped off. The next day, I spoke with Aunt Sally, and uncle Cliff told her, "well, they're only things that were destroyed; we still have our lives."
The log cabin was more than just an ordinary home. It is where generations have celebrated special occasions and holidays and made many memories. They planned their retirement to enjoy their grandchildren in their home, and now it's destroyed.
Your help in this dire time would be greatly appreciated.
