Swansea Hockey Club, one of the UKs oldest grass roots Hockey Clubs dating back to pre 1900, is an active club in the local community, developing hundreds of local children in the game of hockey, providing a social and competitive framework for students and adults alike to connect and then compete at the highest level that they can aspire to. Our teams and individuals compete weekly in the UK and International elite arenas.
Our success has always been based on the dedication to grass roots Hockey, working within, developing and enriching our community.
We are a club that is mainly run by volunteers. The organization, administration and delivery for the majority of the Club is voluntary and self-funded through Annual Subscriptions and Match Fees. Over the years the Club has grown, based heavily on Junior Hockey participation. There is no coincidence that as the Club has invested money in the development if it’s Juniors, the level of success in our Senior teams has increased.
The Club are seeking for this success to continue despite some challenges.
We have the short-term backdrop of Covid-19 that is impacting our ability to raise funds through match fees and annual subscriptions at a time when our operating costs are increasing due to the success of our Senior teams who are now competing much further afield at an elite level.
In the mid-term there is much needed equipment that we need to continue investing in to ensure that our facilities can continue to support the development of children from local Schools in to Club Hockey and then on to wherever they aspire to go and in the long-term the Club has an aspiration to attain their own Clubhouse that would host post match hospitality, social functions and fundraising events that would generate ongoing and more sustainable revenue streams.
Please consider donating to Swansea Hockey Club, and we promise we will put every pound to good use supporting the development of children from throughout the region to achieving their very highest ambition.
