Sweet Baby Eda's Recovery
Donation protected
Hello,
This is Eda. She is an 8-year-old Boston Terrier rescue that I (Jordan Cooper) took in from a breeder 2 years ago. Initially, I planned to foster and fix her up to rehome her. This sneaky hag stole my heart and has been a beloved family member ever since. With her crooked unset tail, it is evident she experienced trauma during her previous life being bred. Regardless of her trials and tribulations, she is somehow the most loving, sweetest, and cuddly dog you will meet.
Over Memorial Day weekend she experienced a tragic accident falling out the window of our moving vehicle that result in extreme road rash injuries. This road rash is so deep there is an exposed tendon on one leg and extensive damage to her paw pads. She will be facing a very long and painful healing process. Through it all she has remained in good spirits and is just as happy and loving as her normal self. This healing process has come with a lot of medical expenses. She has had excellent care at Southview Animal Hospital in West Saint Paul where she has stolen the hearts of staff. This strong lady has been a fighter and will get through this with her unwavering positivity. She had a surgery consultation to see if closure around the tendon injury would be necessary. Thankfully this wound will likely heal itself. The major concern now is damage to her paw pads. This may require skin grating that can take many expensive surgeries to fix. It is now a waiting game to see if this little Wolverine will heal her tissue or not, thus determining what is salvageable and ultimately the treatments that will be needed. We are nearly tapped out on funding but this girl has a lot of life and fight left in her that making the difficult decision to put her down is unfathomable.
Care thus far at Southview has totaled approximately $4,000. Her quoted continued wound care and dead tissue removal will soon require an additional $3,300. Future surgeries and care will have to be determined. Skin grafting can total a whopping $10,000 so we are getting second opinions and seeing what options are available. We are currently working with the vet to establish a treatment plan (this is a day-by-day assessment based on her healing). We are anxiously hoping to hear back from Mission Animal Hospital which has sliding-scale affordable pricing for care.
If all else fails and financially we are unable to pay for her care to keep her home, we are in contact with rescues. As painful as it would be to part with her if we find ourselves in a situation where we can no longer provide what she needs, we will do what is necessary to get her these medical treatments to ensure she has the happiest and healthiest life.
Eda’s Mom (Jordan Cooper) and Dad (Timothy McIntyre) would greatly appreciate any assistance as we undergo this lengthy healing process and ensure she is given the absolute best care. All funding will be used to cover her ongoing vet expenses. Our family has received an outpour of support and love and we cannot express in words how much we appreciate it. Eda is a truly treasured family member, and we just want her to get better as soon as possible. Her brother Archie is anxious to get back to WWE wrestling smackdowns and yard zoomies with his beloved sister.
