Sweet Daisy's journey
Donation protected
On August 26th, 2022, Hannah (Emily’s sister) and Steve (Erin and Ryan’s brother) welcomed beautiful little Daisy Brownlow Gray to the world. Early on, the incredible team at the IWK noticed that something wasn’t quite right with her liver. After many nights in the NICU and following numerous tests, Daisy was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia. This is essentially when the bile ducts don’t fully develop, which are essential in the proper function of the liver.
Within Daisy’s first few weeks of life, she underwent a major surgery. There was some success with this, and the goal was to delay a potential liver transplant to a much later time in her childhood. Unfortunately, the progression of her illness is faster than we all hoped, and Daisy will be making some trips to Toronto to visit the experts at Sick Kids. At that point, the family will find out more details on when a liver transplant will need to happen and the process surrounding this event.
While Steve and Hannah have done an incredible job to date of caring for little Daisy, they are at the point where they could use our help to get Daisy the care she needs. There will be many flights, car rentals, hotels, and meals needed in Toronto soon and down the road when a transplant takes place.
The entire family truly appreciates any help that our friends and extended family can offer at this time.
