Support Sweet G’s Long Road to Recovery
Help Sweet G fight for her life and her future after a senseless, devastating accident.
On Sunday, April 13, 2025, a family’s world changed forever. Sweet G—beloved daughter, sister, friend, and high school senior—was simply stopping for coffee with her mom and sister in South Bend, Indiana. Then, the unimaginable happened.
A truck, driven by someone under the influence, jumped the curb, veered across the street, and barreled onto the sidewalk—striking Sweet G and slamming her into a brick building. Her sister narrowly escaped. Her mother, just steps away after parking the car, heard the most heartbreaking sound imaginable: her daughter’s faint voice from beneath the rubble crying out, “Help me.”
No parent is ever ready for this. No child deserves this.
Sweet G was rushed to the nearest trauma center just six minutes away. It was a miracle she made it that far. She arrived with a broken left femur, a crushed right femur, internal bleeding from her liver and spleen, a severed artery in her leg, and a traumatic brain injury. Doctors gave her a 50/50 chance of survival. They warned her family that she might lose one—or both—of her legs.
She’s just 17. A thoughtful, radiant young woman with college dreams ahead. Instead of prom and graduation, Sweet G is now in the ICU—undergoing surgery after surgery, fighting for her life and her future.
Why “Sweet G”?
We’re using the name “Sweet G” to protect her privacy—but also because it truly fits. She is kind, joyful, and deeply loved. She lights up every room she enters. She’s a fighter, yes—but she should never have had to fight like this.
What the Funds Will Cover:
Sweet G’s parents have not left her side. They’re grieving, praying, and doing everything they can. But life outside the hospital doesn’t stop. Bills, groceries, and mortgage payments keep coming. This working-class family is now facing a mountain of unexpected medical and living expenses.
This GoFundMe is a lifeline—every donation goes directly to:
• Monthly living expenses (mortgage, utilities, groceries)
• Lost income as her parents remain by her side
• Immediate and long-term medical costs not covered by insurance
• Physical therapy and rehabilitation
• Mobility devices, home modifications, and future care needs
How You Can Help:
Right now, the focus is on survival. But with your help, we can begin building a path toward healing—not just for Sweet G, but for her entire family.
Please give what you can. Share this campaign. Rally your community.
Let’s surround this beautiful young soul with the love, hope, and support she needs. The village is here. Let’s be that village.
Thank you—from the bottom of our hearts.
Updates will be shared here as Sweet G’s journey continues.
(On behalf of her family, we’re keeping her identity private—because no 17-year-old wants their most vulnerable moments shared with the world.)
I’m Cynthia—Sweet G’s godmother and a close family friend. I’m organizing this page on behalf of my dear friends as they navigate this heartbreaking and traumatic time. (In case you were wondering.)
