Sweet Maggie needs new knees!
Donation protected
Hi! I am an animal lover who happened to pick up a puppy off the road 3 years ago. My coworker Nancy adopted her and she has a fabulous fulfilled life. Unfortunately, Maggie suffers from painful knees. Maggie is three years old. She was born with genetic knee and hip abnormalities that we have been aware of since she was one. Over the last 6 months, Maggie went from being able to jump on furniture, jump in the car and stand on her back legs to being lifted into the car and using steps to access furniture. She is no longer able to stand on her back legs. Earlier this year, she started walking on three legs. When her usual anti-inflammatory did not relieve her pain, we were referred to an orthopedic vet.
Maggie will be having a tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy (TPLO) procedure performed on her right knee May 24th. This procedure is performed to stabilize the joint after a rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament.
Maggie’s left knee is significantly worse and she will need a TPLO procedure on that joint 6-8 months after her right.
TPLO is normally a permanent fix and Maggie will regain strength and mobility lost due to her injuries. The recovery is 10 weeks.
The procedure cost for her right side is $3,400 and her left will be $4,200.
Please help me raise money for Nancy and her sweet Maggie. She will do anything for her “babies” but the cost is a hardship.
