Sweet Wheel Farm Closed Loop Food System
Tax deductible
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to start the first ever Closed Loop Food System at Sweet Wheel Farm in Summerland California! This project is replacing gas powered car produce deliveries with electric bicycles to reach a goal of zero emissions. This project benefits members of the Food Fragile Program, who rely on the program provided by the farm. Not only will this project benefit the environment greatly, and set an example for other businesses and organizations to strive for zero emissions, but it will also extend the reach of produce deliveries allowing more people to get the help that they need.
Ethan Klawuhn is attending San Marcos High School, and found interest in the farm and what it does after going on a field trip in his freshman year. Sweet Wheel Farm is owned by the Santa Barbara Agriculture and Farm Education Foundation which is a nonprofit that provides sustainable food solutions for fragile food communities. Sweet Wheel Farm is 100% natural in what they produce with no artificial pesticides or fertilizers.
This project is the first of its kind and aims to spark the environmental change that is needed around our community. The funds will be used to purchase electric bicycles for the delivery fleet and to train volunteers to ride the bicycles.
