Sisters in Dubbo Crash

Donation protected
Hi my name is Karleigh, the blogger formally known as Sausage Mama.

Last night one of my dearest friends was driving from the Gold Coast to Melbourne with two of her children (my god children) when they were involved in a front on collision with a semi trailer.

We are heartbroken to have lost one of her children (aged 16) whilst the 10 year old has been lifted to Westmead Hospital in critical condition, fighting for her life with brain injuries, a damaged pelvis and broken leg.

The family have all had to cease work to fly down and I’m trying to get a flight to support the Mum as she’s alone in Dubbo until we can get her to Sydney. Funds will be used to function in this challenging time.

We are also seeking accomodation which is hard to find in Sydney at the moment due to the Swifty influx of anyone knows anything.

Thank you for your support. This was supposed to be a road trip of a life time with them going to concerts in both Melbourne and Sydney.

———-UPDATE————

Today is Saturday, it’s 4am and I can’t sleep. It’s been 24 hours since I found out and I’ve already flown down from the Gold Coast, staying in a Sydney hotel by the airport, soon to be meeting Mama who is flying in from Dubbo thanks to your generous donations! Those Taylor Swift tickets were not cheap and as Mama has lost her phone and can’t remember her email password so we can’t even access the tickets to sell/give away to at this point.

I’m so overwhelmed with the outpouring of generosity and love towards the family, wow over $4k already!!! Thank you!!! As you can imagine there is a lot of work ahead of us and this will help immensely to reduce some of the pressure.

On Wednesday I had picked up Miss 16 from work and asked her who her favourite concert so far she’d been to and she said ‘Gracie Abrams’. I told her I’d check her out. The last thing she said to me was ‘thank you! Have a beautiful afternoon! Argh my pants are falling down I couldn’t find my belt!’ And we’d laughed She was so beautiful. She looked really healthy and had a sparkle in her eye and I’d meant to text her later to tell her so, because sometimes she was funny with compliments in person, but I got distracted with life and forgot.

After I received the news, I got in the car and said ‘okay, I’m going to turn on the radio and whatever is said is coming from you, darling.’ It was a song on Triple J and I was mouth agape to hear the words

‘what. The. Fuck. Last night was craaaazy.’

I took a deep breath and honoured my word, typed Gracie Abrams into Spotify and hit play as I drove. The first song? ‘I miss you’.

This morning we see Miss Ten. She’s in a medically induced coma. Her papa and other big sister have been at her bedside flying down from the Gold Coast as soon as they could. ✨ Hold your loved ones a little longer, look them in the eyes and tell them how beautiful they are to you. Or at least send the damn text. (But it’s okay, she knows now, she’s around ) I’ll update y’all later, Karleigh/ Fern Burgertown/ Sausage Mama
