Fondazione LIMPE per il Parkinson ONLUS (LIMPE Parkinson Foundation) is an association created in 2014. Its mission is to support scientific research, education and dissemination of information on Parkinson's disease, Parkinsonisms, dystonias, and other movement disorders. LIMPE Parkinson Foundation is committed to improving the quality of life of people with Parkinson's disease and their families and in recent years has undertaken many initiatives which actively involved people with Parkinson’s.
The "Swim for Parkinson" was launched in 2019 after Cecilia Ferrari's experience, first with Parkinson’s to swim across the Strait of Messina (Italy) in July 2018.
The third edition of "Swim for Parkinson" will be held on 6th September 2022. A team composed of 30 participants (including neurologists, caregivers and people with Parkinson's disease) will swim in a relay across the 3.5 Km of Strait of Messina. People with Parkinson’s and their neurologists will be united in this relay to support LIMPE Parkinson Foundation.
By supporting the Swim For Parkinson with your donations, you will support the Italian multicenter research project on Advanced Therapies for Parkinson's Disease, an Italian registry that will provide data about the 3 device-aided therapies (Deep Brain Stimulation, Apomoriphine infusion, Levodopa/Carbidopa duodenal infusion)
