Swim Lessons for 42 kids: Summer 2024

Hello!

My son is Gordie. I called him Buggy. He was 3 and my best friend.

He drown in our pool almost 4 years ago.

Drowning is the leading cause of death in kids 4 and under and all ages for children with Autism.

Every year since, I have sponsored 3 kids each summer to get swim lessons. 3 kids each summer isn’t enough. I had a lot of outreach this year for more. I want to get 15 kids in swim lessons this summer and need to raise roughly $7500 to do it.

I am also finding that there are other places with better prices for swim lessons and possibility for a better group rate to sponsor more kids for the same $7500.

I will be starting a Non-profit for this with other fundraising events to accommodate kids swims however, that won’t be in affect until next summer. This year, it’s go fund me.

ANY contribution is appreciated. It goes directly to kids swim lessons. I am taking nothing for this except the bitter sweet feeling.

Additionally, Every year on July 29th we do #bubblesforbuggy in Rotary Park. This is an event that allows kids and adults to blow bubbles to your loved ones that have gone. This is a less somber way to remember your loves that can involve the kids. (This needs no donation - just mentioning if you would like to come or know someone that would benefit from this)

UPDATE:

I was able to get the swim lesson cost down to less than half of what I was paying previously! The goal amount has been adjusted accordingly.

Lessons will be through the Livonia Rec Center. If you need to go through another facility due to location please let me know.

We will be getting 15 kids in swim lessons this summer!
