Swimming courses for all @ Parliament Hill Lido
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Elly and I’m fundraising so that Lido Summer Swim School can provide free or bursaries to children in the area, who can’t afford to attend such extra curricular courses in their summer holidays.
It was brought to my attention recently that there is a demographic of children who are on free school lunches that noticeably can’t swim.
They are not taken swimming regularly or can afford the holidays sat by a pool learning and exploring the water each day with a swimming pool so readily available.
Lido Summer Swim School provides a great opportunity to fast track swimming learning. We provide 5 consecutive day intensive courses with small groups of 4-6 students, with the coach in the water with the class.
This hands on approach provides extra confidence and teaching expertise not usually received.
Our qualified coaches are able to deliver their instructions in a variety of methods aural, visual and kinaesthetic to get great technique results and have fun.
The funds will be used to cover some basic business costs, the teachers wages and more pool equipment with increased attendance will need to be purchased.
Lido Summer Swim School takes place At Parliament Hill Lido on Hampstead Heath, is in the borough of Camden but is also surrounded by Islington, Harringay and Westminster all these boroughs have a range of households from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
The City of London Corporation have kindly offered to let us use their pool without charge for this campaign.
Parliament Hill Lido is an unheated swimming facility which is a great introduction to outdoor swimming in a safe environment.
As part of our courses we cover basic water safety with the students and the advanced class practice some water rescue knowledge.
With your help we can provide up to 216 places.
Courses start July 15th!
Each week Monday-Friday lunchtime for 6 weeks!
All summer holidays!
Wind, Rain or Shine, it’s lesson time!
