Sex Worker's Opera at Amsterdam IAC

Sex Worker's Opera, the award-winning, repeat-sellout show created by Sex Worker artists and friends, goes to Amsterdam in July 2018 to coincide with the International AIDS Conference and Amsterdam Pride!

To tackle HIV globally, we need to make it safer for sex workers to access sexual health services, sexual health education and human dignity in society. This comes with better laws as well as social integration. To tackle stigma and stereotypes we make powerful art that wins over hearts and minds.

There is nowhere better or more important than the International AIDS Conference where public health officials, government delegates and NGO representatives from around the world come to learn.

Drawing on 60+ stories from 18 countires across 6 continents our show provides an authentic voice for the everyday worker while presenting positive steps to tackle the isolation sex workers experience, HIV being one of many symptoms of this. Read on to find out more...

We are asking for your support to ensure we can:

• Put on an incredible piece of musical theatre, paying our members for their hard work, creativity and performances
• Put on a beautiful show with a powerful high level set design, costume, props, lighting and sound
• Run free workshops writing music with local sex workers to include their voice in the show
• Run workshops building bridges with local women's, LGBTQ+ and migrant groups in Amsterdam
• Do exciting preview performances, flashmobs and workshops at the International AIDS Conference
