SWORD Beach Swim

This expedition aims to pay homage to the amphibious assault on occupied Normandy by Allied forces in World War 2, known as the DDay landings; code-named Operation OVERLORD.

This is the second of three events which started in June 2023 to commemorate the 79th and 80th anniversaries of the airborne assault at Pegasus Bridge and DDay landings at SWORD beach.

The swim will depart Portsmouth using a crewed safety boat as a guide. Swimming for 80 nautical miles I’ll only rest when it’s too dangerous to swim and aI’m to arrive in Normandy at SWORD beach within 4 days.

The aim is to raise donations and awareness for several charities that support and care for service personnel and veterans.
