Hi, I’m Kai and I’m fundraising for my top surgery next spring!

As a trans person in the U.K. things are very unsettled and scary right now. I have been on the NHS Gender Identity Clinic’s waiting list for over 3 years now and still yet to have my first appointment. Not long after I went to my GP to get on the waiting list I realised I couldn’t wait any longer to begin my transition. Therefore, I have self funded everything up until now which is very expensive. I have spent over £1000 this far on hormone therapy and various consultations. I have no regret about spending that money on my transition as I can confidently say I am happier than I have ever been but I am still desperate to take the next natural step for me and get top surgery. If I was to wait and go through the NHS I would likely been waiting 10 years. I simply cannot wait that long.

My surgery will cost £8885.

For anyone who is unaware, FTM top surgery is chest reconstruction surgery to give a masculine chest. Up to this point I have been wearing a chest binder and extremely baggy clothes to try and feel somewhat comfortable on a day to day basis. Anyone with experience of binding will agree they are not comfortable at all and can get extremely hot in the summer which makes doing things even harder. I would often rather been in pain to avoid dysphoria than go without.
