Help Lexi Walk Again
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Carole Spradling. My older sister Sara is the best dog mom to her little dachshund, Lexi.
Lexi and Sara became best buds the moment Sara rescued her in 2019- she was just a little 8lb dog, incredibly sweet but very shy and in need of a happy and safe home. The two have been inseparable ever since, and Lexi has won over the heart of friends and strangers alike with her big doe eyes and affectionate nature. Lexi loves sitting in her mom's lap in the car with her front paws up on the steering wheel, taking a snooze on a pillow, and sunbathing on the balcony. She's a tiny dog with a big heart, and has brought so much joy and purpose to my sister's life.
About a week ago, Lexi jumped off the couch, and suddenly her back legs went limp. Sara rushed Lexi to the animal ER, where the doctors gave her a diagnosis of Hindlimb Paralysis due to T3-L3 Myelopathy (spinal cord damage). Lexi is currently unable to support herself on her back legs and is therefore unable to stand or walk, and even needs some manual assistance to go to the bathroom. Due to Lexi's current status, she requires 24/7 care and is expected to be on bed rest for at least 4-6 weeks.
Vets have suggested surgery to optimize Lexi's recovery and the likelihood of her regaining the use of her hind legs- which can cost up to $10,000. This cost does not include other aspects of her care, like additional vet visits, medications, physical therapy, Sara's need to take some time off from work etc.
Please help us get the best care possible for Lexi and help Sara with this unexpected financial burden. ANY donation is greatly appreciated. Please share our fundraiser with friends and family, and on social media.
Lexi's spirit is still bright, but she has a long road to recovery. We are wishing for the best for little Lexi and Sara!
