Hurricane Dorian Survivors

Hurricane Dorian was a horrifying nightmare of a storm... and the nightmare continues long after the storm passed!  So many of our friends and family have lost EVERYTHING!  We are so thankful that though they have lost material possessions, we still have them alive. I moved to Marsh Harbour, in Abaco Bahamas back in 1999.  My goal was to teach for a couple of years and return to Canada. My plans changed as I met my husband there and married in 2000. I lived in Marsh Harbour for 11 years till we made the decision to move back to Ontario with our two children, the oldest diagnosed with Autism. It was HARD to leave.  We loved our island home and the warm generous people we were leaving behind, much less leaving my husbands family. We did it for the good of our child. Our Bahamian family now faces the HARD fact that they can no longer live in that beautiful community. Like us they are coming to Canada where they will be surrounded by my loving family and warm generous community. We  are asking our friends and family to consider donating to assist in 1) the cost to bring Kyles family to Canada 2) cost of living, clothing, transportation  and medical needs while here  (Kyle’s mother suffers from Alzheimer’s/Dementia)
We are also fundraising for any other of our Bahamian family or friends seeking asylum in Canada.  The recovery of their homes and businesses will be a long process and any help we can provide along the way will be joyfully given.
