Honoring Sydney Ledoux at Stonehill College

Hi everyone! Our names are Lexie Braun and Caitlyn Bowen, we are Stonehill College Class of 2022 alumni and close friends of Sydney Ledoux. Sydney passed away in November 2023 suddenly and unexpectedly. Her loss has been felt very deeply by so many of those who loved and knew her. Sydney was a selfless, loving individual who helped others in need whenever she had the opportunity.

We are fundraising in hopes of dedicating spaces on Stonehill’s campus in Sydney’s name. For those of you who knew Sydney, you know that she spent her life making an impact within her community and in so many people’s lives. In particular, her impact at Stonehill College was one of the greatest. She spent several years on campus as a Resident Assistant, where she worked to establish close connections with her residents. She was also involved in Habitat for Humanity, served as the President of the Resident Hall Association, and was a member of the Student Alumni Association. She served on the E-Board of several on campus organizations. In addition, Sydney successfully advocated to establish Sign Language as an official foreign language on campus. She loved Stonehill, and her ability to connect with others and make campus a better place was felt by many. We hope that we can honor her on campus in a way that she deserved, in a way where her legacy can live on forever.

Our goal is to establish two spaces on campus in Sydney’s name. One space will be in the Science Center, where she frequented as a Biology Major. We also hope to dedicate a study space in her name as well. The $10,000 goal will cover the cost of both spaces. A plaque will be placed in these areas in honor of Sydney. If we raise more than the cost of the spaces, we are donating the remainder of the funds to the Reverend Thomas M. Halkovic, C.S.C. Student Leadership Scholarship. This scholarship provides funds to students with demonstrated financial need who participate in campus activities, much like Sydney did. Any donation is helpful! We appreciate you taking the time to honor Sydney’s legacy at a place that she called home, and a place where she made such a profound impact.
