As a local resident and committed advocate for the residents of Ilford, I am delighted to announce I have been selected to stand as The Green Party's prospective parliamentary candidate for Ilford South at the next general election.

Like most people in Ilford, I am speechless with what is occurring in Gaza. I, like thousands of others, stand in solidarity with Palestine and condemn the ongoing war crimes committed by the IDF, which has so far, resulted in over 30,000 innocent Palestinians being killed.

It's shocking, even paralyzing, to witness the silence of many politicians in the face of what is not only a humanitarian crisis, but also, in the eyes of many, including the ICJ, an ongoing genocide.

As a result, after very careful consideration, I made the decision to terminate my contract with a Labour Party MP whom I was employed by.

I could no longer, with a clear consciousness, continue my association with a party that turns a blind eye to racism and support Israel's war crimes.

Professionally, I've been working in the NHS for over 12 years, and I strongly oppose privatization of our healthcare system.

I, and the Green Party, believe in the importance of maintaining accessible and public healthcare for everyone, free at the point of use.

In this critical time, advocating for candidates who can offer an alternative to the two mainstream parties is critical, ensuring a more representative voice for the residents they serve and on issues that matter the most to them.

Now more than ever, we need leadership from genuine representatives who have integrity and the courage to speak out against wrongdoings. I believe I am that candidate.
