Sylvester’s life saving treatment

Hi, I am Hayley and this is my 7 year old black and white cat, Sylvester. On Friday 19th January, Sylvester became unwell, initially with sickness & stomach issues, hiding away and not being his cute, cheeky self at all. The next day he hadn’t shown any improvements and began to wail in pain so I took him to the emergency vets who prescribed him anti-inflammatory tablets and antibiotics. This cost me £500 as my level of insurance would not cover it. If he was to be kept in, it would have been £1,300 but the vet advised that, as he’d responded well to the pain relief, I could take him home and medicate him.

Sadly, he didn’t show many signs of improvement at home, so I rang into work and took him back again on the Monday. He was then given an anti-sickenss injection, prescribed some probiotics and given an appetite stimulant as if cats don’t eat, their other organs such as their liver can start to shut down. The vet told me that if he does not eat, I will need to bring him back for the investigative treatment which includes blood tests, radiography and further treatment. The vet priced this up at a further £1000, plus the cost of further treatment (£500+) when they have diagnosed the problem. The vet also advised the only other option was for him to be put to sleep at age 7, which is absolutely heartbreaking when he could be saved if we had the money. I was charged another £123 for this appointment, on top of the £500 for the emergency visit as, again, I was told my level of insurance I have does not cover what he needs.

Sylvester is my baby, I have had him since he was a tiny 10 week old kitten and I would do anything to keep him alive and healthy, however the cost (£623 up to this point) has absolutely crippled me already. I have spent every penny I possibly can to get my boy better and I work very hard but the costs so far have absolutely floored me on top of all my bills, so any help for Sylvester would be appreciated more than I could ever put into words!! All funds will be used to pay for Sylvester’s treatment that he needs to pull through and beat this illness. Thank you for reading xxx
