Sylvia Welsford (Zimbabwe)

I am Caroline Trigg, a friend and former neighbour of Sylvia Welsford, UK citizen, brought up in Bulawayo, lived most of her adult life in Harare, retired back to Byo 2023. Sylvia was brutally attacked and left for dead in her home in Bulawayo on 25th September and has been fighting for her life for nearly 3 weeks, with the support of her brother, Peter Locke, in Bulawayo. Small improvements have been noticed each day, and moments of consciousness and recognition of her brother and a close friend, but there is a long way to go, and hospital bills are mounting. Medical aid cover was in place, but will never cover the costs involved. She is in Mater Dei hospital in Bulawayo, where she will spend her birthday on 16th October, in ICU. This is an extremely distressing time for family and friends, and any donations that would go towards her medical costs, by friends and wellwishers, would at least alleviate some of the concerns about the mounting costs and help show much we all care.
