Ilge has raised $80,000 from a dozen local Monterey County clubs. Rotary International has approved Ilge’s application and has agreed to match the funds that she raised 2.3 times. Funds are being remitted to the Rotary Club of Kusadasi (Turkey) to purchase computers, projectors, books, desks, building supplies, etc. for a local elementary/middle school in Torbali, Turkey, The Hasan Salih Cetinel Middle School.
However, none of these funds have been allocated to cover travel costs.
Funds raised from online donations will be used to cover travel costs from California to Izmir, Turkey (March 13-28, 2020) for Carmel Sunset Rotary Club member, Mike Buffo .

Documentary films have the unique power to put issues that matter into the limelight. We aim to tell a revolutionary story of peace, creativity and humanity. Our commitment to ‘Healing Through Art’ will break barriers between the Syrian refugee and Turkish cultures that divide the school. Through this intimate portrait, our short-film tentatively titled, “Peace in the Limelight,” will portray the resilience of children to remind all of us what we have in common as humans.
(Contributions are not tax-deductible.)
Thank you for your generous gifts.
