Syrian Children in Turkey & Greece
Donation protected
Hello Everyone!
My name is Gina Ingram Murray and my family of 5 will be traveling to Bodrum, Turkey on September 6th to help the Syrian refugees there in any way we can. We are planning on volunteering for one month - first in Turkey then in Kos, Greece. We are full-time travelers who have been traveling nonstop for the past 2 years and find helping others to be the best part of travel.
In light of the horrific refugee situation in Turkey and Greece right now - heartbreakingly brought to the world's attention by the two young Syrian brothers, Aylan and Galip, and their mother, who died while trying to reach Kos from Bodrum - we feel compelled to drop everything and offer support and comfort to the thousands of families that have lost everything.
Turkey has an estimated 1.7 million Syrian refugees who are escaping the atrocities in Syria where war has entered its fifth year. Syria has over 4 million reported refugees and 7.6 million internally displaced. The war in Syria has claimed the lives of more than 350,000 civilians.
There are thousands of innocent children caught in the middle of this horrendous situation who need supplies of all kinds - basic necessities (clothes, diapers, shoes, socks, etc.), first aid kits, educational materials, books, toys, and many other items that can comfort these frightened children who have lost their homes and all the comforts that childhood should bring.
We are looking to raise funds that will directly benefit the struggle of the Syrian refugee children. We will be personally handing out the supplies with the help of other volunteers. We hope to document our visit through photos and videos to relay how your donations will directly impact these families.
With your generous contributions we will provide them with the supplies needed as well as allow us, and especially our 3 children (ages 16, 14, and 7), to share love, kindness, and friendship with these children and show them that they are not alone in their struggles.
We will be working with several volunteer groups to help purchase and disperse the items. We will provide exact details and follow up once we get there!
Your contribution is greatly appreciated! Please share this with your family and friends. Thank you for your support!
